Trip overview | Uluru | Kata Tjuta | Kings Canyon | Mereenie Loop | Western Macs | Alice Springs | Simpson Desert | Devil's Marbles

Northern Territory 2009

Kata Tjuta - the Olgas

Australia has several iconic places: Uluru, the Great Barrier Reef, and the Sydney Opera House head the list. We'd had family holidays at the Reef and in Sydney, but not at Uluru. So during the school and university break in the middle of 2009, we went to Central Australia for a couple of weeks.

We started at Uluru and Kata Tjuta; then drove via Kings Canyon and the Mereenie Loop Road to the western MacDonnell ranges; then to Alice Springs, the eastern MacDonnell ranges, and Chambers Pillar on the edge of the Simpson Desert; and finally to the Devil's Marbles.

We love the feeling of endless space in the Northern Territory.
